Jims Jungle Retreat, Naturalist and decades-old benefactor of the park, Inder Akoi, brings you his vision of a jungle safari camp on the southeast border of CTR. Operations began in 2006 with a team of qualified wildlife professionals with vast experience in biodiversity conservation and eco-tourism.Our senior naturalist and executive director, the very personable Imran Khan, commands an outstanding team of local staff who manage the retreat with a keen attention to detail, well-crafted safaris and bird watching tours.The 10-acre retreat is encircled by a seasonal riverbed and reserve forest and is barely two km from CTR's open-around-the-year Jhirna forest. Raj-era styled thatched cottages and wrap-around verandahs provide the perfect jungle camp ambience, embellished by the retreat's landscaped vistas, water bodies and wide open spaces. Native fruiting trees and shrubs have been planted to encourage nesting by transitory and domestic bird species that are often followed by their predators.Each cottage offers large private verandahs, where the sounds of the forest - an alarm call, a bird song or the busy internment of bustling honey bees - is all you'll need to slip into complete serenity.Slide shows and wild life films are projected in our thatched sitting room. On days when the sun shines bright and temperatures rise, when heat escapes the ground in wisps of hot air, dip into our sparkling swimming pool or experience a stimulating Ayurvedic massage.Our dining area, open to the forested surroundings, offers a unique mixture of cuisine from the days of the Raj and the present. On some evenings, a surprise Indian barbeque, hosted in true shikar camp style awaits you by a bonfire, where Kumaoni folk dances, folklore and discussions on field-based wildlife experiences are encouraged. Our sunset bar caters to thirsty throats after a tiring day of tiger tracking or logging off the bird list.
