Leh Classic Tour

Day 01: Arrive Leh

Arrival Leh by morning flight and transfer to the hotel. After welcome on arrival, take complete rest for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (11,500 ft / 3500 mtrs). In the late afternoon drive to the city centre for an orientation walk in the markets, followed by a visit to Shanti Stupa. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 02 : Leh

The morning is at leisure for adjustment with the high altitude and rarefied air of Ladakh. After leisurely breakfast, drive to the 11th century Alchi Choskor, the oldest surviving monastic complex of the region and famous for its paintings and architecture. After sightseeing and lunch here, drive back to Leh, en-route visiting Magnetic Point, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the ‘Temple of Guardians’ (Gon-khang) in Spituk monastery, which is revered by Hindu devotees as Kali-Mandir. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 : Leh-Pangong Lake-Tangtse

Early departure for Pangong Lake (approx. 300 kms round trip) via Chang-la pass (alt: 17370 ft.). Pangong Lake (alt: 14,500 ft.) is 4-5 kms wide and over 135 kms long, about two-third of which lies on the other side of the Indo-China Border. Stop at the lakeside for lunch and sightseeing. In the late afternoon / evening, drive back for 30 kms to Tangtse village and check into Hotel / Guest House / camp for overnight stay.

Day 04 : Tangtse-Leh

Leave Tangtse after breakfast and retrace the road to Leh, across the Chang-la Pass. Upon reaching Karu, drive across the Indus and visit Hemis Monastery, the biggest and most famous monastery of Ladakh, and then return to the highway for onward journey to Leh, enroute visiting the picturesque Thiksey monastery. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 : Leh-Khardong-La-Leh (80 Kms oneway)

After breakfast drive to Khardong-La (80 kms round trip), highest motorable pass in the world (alt: 18,380 ft.) and recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. On the drive back from the pass, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the Indus Valley and the endless peaks of the Zanskar range. Rest of the day free to explore the markets. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6 : Leh Depart

Early morning transfer to the airport for taking the flight back home.
